Who Owns Your Stem Cells?
The Government Says They Own Your Stem Cells and They are Attacking Doctors Who are Trying to Protect You
According to the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, your very own adipose-derived stem cells are now classified as a drug. Adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) are those that are obtained from fat tissue. ADSC’s are reported to be ideal in regenerative medicine because they are fairly easy to obtain, can be repeatedly harvested, and have high rates of success in treatment.
According to the Mayo Clinic, “Stem cells are the body’s raw materials — cells from which all other cells with specialized functions are generated.” Have we then unknowingly handed over the rights to our very own basic human makeup?
On June 3, 2019, United States District Judge Ursula Ungaro granted the government’s request for an injunction against US Stem Cell Clinic, LLC, prohibiting the practice from “doing any act” in regards to the stromal vascular fraction (SVF) stem cell therapy that it has utilized in helping over 12,000 patients dealing with neurological, autoimmune, orthopedic, and degenerative diseases.
Kristin Comella, PhD, Chief Scientific Officer of US Stem Cell Clinic, is a world-renowned expert on regenerative medicine with a focus on ADSC’s. She was named number 24 on Terrapin’s list of the Top 50 Global Stem Cell Influencers and number 1 on the Academy of Regenerative Practices list of Top 10 Stem Cell Innovators.
Dr. Comella has pioneered stem cell therapies from various sources including cord blood, bone marrow, muscle, and adipose. She led the team that obtained the first ever FDA approval for a clinical trial using a combined cell and gene therapy product in the heart. In addition to possessing advanced cell culturing experience, Dr. Comella has managed the development, manufacturing, and quality systems of a variety of cellular
products. She has developed a wide range of regenerative techniques and products that have been successfully implemented into the clinic setting.
It’s no secret that the FDA targets companies and professionals who market or administer holistic therapies and products that have a high success rate in assisting with the healing of pain and disease. The FDA’s goal in this regard is to find loopholes that allow them to convince the courts that because these products and therapies are being used to “diagnose, cure, mitigate, treat, and/or prevent disease” they must be classified as drugs under the United States Code.
In 2017, the FDA sent a “warning letter” to Dr. Comella requiring that she go through all their red tape in order to avoid seizure or injunction. We’ve seen similar letters in recent years issued to essential oil companies, supplement companies, and doctors who have been successful in using holistic therapies for autism and cancer.
Governmental power has grown so large that the FDA can raid small holistic companies and doctor’s offices and seize materials with no repercussions. The Life Extension Foundation raid of 1987 documents that 25 armed FDA agents and US Marshals burst through the doors of this non-threatening non-profit organization, searched its employees, and held the Founder at gunpoint. Later it was revealed that 80% of the items seized during the 12-hour raid were not even listed on the warrant. Employees suffered nightmares and many were too afraid to return to work. This is just one of many similar tyrannical raids and a perfect example of governmental overreach. When government becomes so large that we are too afraid to stand up against them on behalf of what is right, we all lose.
The FDA is asking that Dr. Comella turn over patient stem cells, which are secured in her lab. This is private, personal doctor-patient information that the FDA has no business having access to, whether they wish to use it for their own good or destroy the evidence. Will the government once again overstep the line and raid her clinic and lab? Will they seek the court to incarcerate Dr. Comella for standing by her patients, just like we’ve seen recently in the case of Attorney Alan Phillips, who has been jailed not once but three times for declining to breach attorney-client privilege by turning over private client records with no legitimate reasoning? Or even worse, is her very life at risk because she dared to question authority and stand up for what is right like at least 90 other dead holistic doctors?
Interestingly enough, but not surprising, Dr. Peter Marks, former Director of Oncology at Novartis, one of the largest pharmaceutical companies by both market capitalization and sales, is currently the Director of the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research (CBER) at the FDA. He recently helped fast-track a genetically modified stem cell product, Car-T, retailing from Novartis at a whopping $475,000.
During this same time, Michael Cohen, former attorney for Donald Trump, was receiving $100,000 a month from Novartis as an “essential consultant.” According to Michelle Parlo, Physician Assistant, from the film My Cells, My Choice, regarding stem cell therapy, “in the largest orthopedic study that was done, 93% of patients had improvement with one treatment.” Dr. Comella also stated, “in tens of thousands of patients, we can only point to a handful of adverse events, which get replayed on the front page of the newspaper…” (See the film at www.MyCellsMyChoice.org)
You can be guaranteed that if you are achieving a 93% success rate with a holistic treatment that cannot be patented by Big Pharma – a treatment that has little to no negative side effects, you will be targeted in today’s climate where Big Pharma pads the pockets of Big Government, and The People are simply dispensable.
